The Deer
A spooky poem- Images from Pinterest
Deer in the headlights but those headlights are eyes You think it’s her fault that she freezes sometimes Poor deer. How on earth will she ever survive? Running from the looking birches in her abode, The spotlight’s on her now; this will be quite a show From her dappling foliage glow to high beam hell This is the only way she’ll get out of her shell The forest is full of sharp teeth and long claws- But on this road exists a mechanical god An eldritch contraption of distortion The beampath is a corporeal entrapment As opposed to the rusty tearing sensation The sheer number of sharp things in her home Forced her to flee to the future alone They say devil you know is better than the devil you don't Yet she is killed anyway for daring to roam.

“Yet she is killed anyway for daring to roam.” I love this line, so powerful. I’ve always felt connected to deers, and I really like how this poem emphasizes their vulnerability.
OH MY GOD, AHHHH😭❤️🩹❤️🩹🫂
